College-bound kid…gare à toi!

Good News for Hannah—

Last week our daughter Hannah received a promising e-mail. She was accepted into Goldsmiths College, University of London.

She was offered a spot in their BA in Drama and Theatre Arts program. Only requirement to fulfill: Completed High School diploma with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. And herein lies the catch.

We are still waiting for the grades from Spain to be sent (Where she spent her Junior Year abroad last year).  Hannah’s host parents already sent the transcript twice. Both copies got lost in the mail. No transcript from Spain, no High School diploma.

The next course of action will be e-mailing the school directly and asking them to please e-mail/fax the transcript to her High School directly.

Well, so there then…Drama and Theater…another starving artist in the family.  People have been telling her “Wouldn’t it be more sensible to study something where you CAN find employment after you finish your degree?” and “Are you ready to ask: ‘Do you want fries with that?'”. She thought about it long and hard and decided that she really wants to study Theater. And good for her. She has to follow her heart and  passion. I believe (and I’m not just saying that ’cause I’m her dad and biggest fan ever), that she has the talent and drive to make a career in Theater.

…and who knows, maybe she’ll make it BIG and buys her father the house in southern France with a view of the Mediterranean and that red Ferrari that he’s had his eyes on. HA!
